Welcome to Himmat Projects

Our Mission
"To offer young people the opportunity to
develop their knowledge, skills, attitudes and confidence, thus enabling and empowering them to decide their own futures."

The Himmat Project was established in 1991, supported by a grant from the Home Office. In 1996 we become a charity and a company limited by guarantee, with funding from multiple local and national sources.

We have formed successful partnerships with many local agencies, who are represented on the Management Committee.  We are a unique project with no known parallel in the UK, with centres in Halifax, Bradford and Keighley.

We are part of the Stronger Families programme.

The Stronger Families Programme supports people across Bradford and Leeds who are facing challenges in being able to develop their skills, move towards the world of work and secure employment. Taking part in the programme is entirely voluntary and is available to anyone who meets the eligibility criteria. We are one of the partner organisations involved providing expertise supporting families and giving them the skills and confidence they need to move forward.

Each participant, and their family, will have someone who works with them as a Key Worker, helping then to access support from across their local area. If you would like additional information please contact us or click here to be redirected to the Council Website.

Young People Together: Hate Hurts

The Calderdale Youth Offending Team and Young People's Service worked with Himmat to carry out this project with young people. Barnardo's were also part of the original partnership with reference to their work with LGBTQ young people.
